‘Do not fall prey to unhealthy trends’

Dimapur, August 31 (MExN): The Cultural Club of Loyola School, Jakhama had its annual seminar on the topic “Rootedness in Naga Culture amidst Growing Modern Society” on August 27, where 80 students participated in the programme.
A press note from theStaff Animator of Loyola School Cultural Club Swedevinu Tase stated that the Headmaster Br Antony SJ invoked God's blessings while Rokobeinuo Pfiikha of class 10 proposed the welcome address. Rokovizo John Meze was the chief guest and delivered the keynote address which was followed by a lively interaction. Meze spoke on how the modern generation is modernizing everything, including the language. Persons who do not speak the modern form of the language are labelled as bastivallas. He exhorted the students to learn the art of weaving and basket-making, and not just limit the activity to making small models of the same. He also spoke of the changing structures in villages and negative attitude of educated youngsters towards elders and cautioned the students not to fall prey to such unhealthy trends.
The note also mentioned that the programme began with a Traditional Group Song competition for the members in which Kigwema Village group stood first, Jakhama Village group came second, and Mima Village group got the third place. The report of the club activities for the current year was read out by Zhaiveisho L. and Vizotonu Khariitso of class 10. A special number was presented by boarders. Vote of thanks was delivered by Meyiekho-o Rhiino of class 8 while the programme was emceed by Virasiil Sachii of class 10. A concluding song was sung by the entire gathering in traditional folk tune.
