Ex- minister Dr K. Kath who passed away on November 17 was laid to rest at his native village Tseophenyu New Village in Tseminyu district on November 18.

“Dr Kath was someone who was deeply committed to the well-being of society. He began his professional journey as a medical doctor, who gave sincere effort in improving public health,” stated Nagaland’s Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio in his condolence message read out at the funeral service held at Tseophenyu New Village.

His demise is a great loss to the Rengma community and the Naga people. The void created by his demise will be difficult to fill, Dr Rio stated adding that his (Dr Kath) sacrifices and contributions toward the state's welfare will be cherished and remembered.

Rengma Hoho stated that Dr Khasii served humanity with distinction, as a dedicated medical professional and as a committed political leader who exemplified true statesmanship.

He was the first Cabinet Minister from the Rengma tribe, and during his tenure as MLA, the Tseminyu Sub-Division was upgraded to an ADC Headquarters, marking a historic milestone for our people, stated Rengma Hoho president  Er Tesinlo Semy.

His contributions have left an enduring imprint on the socio-economic progress of the Rengma community, Semy added.

Condolence messages also received from Nagaland’s power & parliamentary affairs minister KG Kenye, Ex-  Parliamentary Association of Nagaland, Kohima Municipal Council councillor Avilie Rio, Naga People’s Front, Rengma Doctors’ Forum, Rengma Students’ Union etc.

Those who spoke at the funeral service included- MLA Jwenga Seb, former minister R. Khing, former minister Nillo Rengma, Benjamin Lorin, Vice President NPF (COB), Rengma Baptist Church Kohima, Tesophenyu Group Officers' Forum, Tesophenyu Group Union Kohima, Tesophenyu Group Pensioners' Forum, Rengma Doctors' Forum, Tesophenyu Villages' Council chairmen, Tesophenyu New Village Baptist Church, Tesophenyu Upper Baptist Church, Tesophenyu Public Group Union, Tesophenyu Group Kathchwiiza Union.

G.K Rengma (Brother), S.R Kent (Brother in-law) and Keso Thong Seb (Grandson) also spoke at the funeral service. The funeral service was ministered by Jonathan Mesen, Pastor, Rengma Baptist Church Kohima and prayer for burial by Meshenchu Kath, Pastor, Tesophenyu New Baptist Church.
