Eastern Flank NSCN (IM) seeks inquiry report on Hongbei incident

Dimapur,  May 5 (MExN): The Eastern Flank of NSCN (IM) has demanded that the findings of an internal inquiry into the killing of four of its cadres on March 28 at Hongbei village be made public, alleging delays in the investigation and seeking action against those found responsible.

In a press statement issued on May 5, it stated that four of its cadres, “dispatched on a mission” for the national cause, were killed during the March 28 incident.

The Eastern Flank identified Lieut. Starling and 2nd Lieut. Mathotmi Shimray of NSCN (IM).

According to the statement, the Director of PIB, Naga Army, NSCN (IM), had on March 29 announced that those responsible would face action as per NARR.

It further stated that NSCN (IM) constituted a six-member inquiry committee on March 30 to investigate the incident and directed the panel to submit its report by April 10. The committee comprised four Members of Collective Leadership, one Kilonser, and one Secretary.

The Yaruiwo also directed all authorities and individuals to extend cooperation to the committee to bring out the truth and deliver justice to the four deceased and their families, it added.

However, the Eastern Flank stated that it is compelled to conclude that, despite the official orders issued by the highest authority, nothing has been forthcoming, with no positive outcome from the inquiry.

“The delay in disclosing the inquiry report is highly questionable and suspicious, and reeks of high treason by anti-Naga pseudo leaders,” it asserted.

Accordingly, the Eastern Flank demanded that the report be made public, with the identification of those responsible for ordering and carrying out the killings.

The statement also cautioned of “irreversible consequences” if the matter is not addressed and justice is not delivered.

The Eastern Flank’s statement said the four cadres had been “dispatched on a mission” in response to what it described as threats to the Naga political movement, particularly in Southern Nagalim.
