Excel Boys Club win Football Open Tournament

Excel Boys Club from Thenyizu village emerged as the champions of the 1st Football Open Tournament organised by Rikhuba Youth Organisation held at Chozuba Town local ground under Phek district.
The week long tournament was under the theme "Uplifting The spirit of Brotherhood through Sports" which saw eight teams vying for the coveted title.
In the final match on Wednesday, they defeated Defenders FC Chozuba Town by 5-2 to emerge as the champions of the tournament.
In the first half, Excel Boys took the lead with Menguzelie Rutsa netting the first goal, while the equaliser came through Toh Shijoh for Chozuba team.
However Mezhüsieto Sekhose scored the second goal for Excel Boys to make it 2-1 in the first half.
After the lemon break, the winning team advanced scoring their third and fourth goals respectively through Nusezo Kezo taking his team to a lead of 4-1.
Chozuba team did found the second goal from the boots of Thejosa Nienu, but Khrükhoto Resü finished the game scoring the fifth goal through penalty for the team to lift the title.
The champion carried a cash prize of Rs.35,000 along with citations while the runner up received a cash prize of Rs. 15,000.
Lhiwete Koza from Excel Boys Thenyizu and Toh Shijoh of Defenders FC Chozuba Town were adjudged as the best custodian and player of the tournament respectively.
