Four houses and two hotels were destroyed in an early-morning fire at Eshou village, Police Check Post Junction, in Tuensang district on September 21.
According to information obtained from the Fire & Emergency Services, Tuensang, the fire reportedly broke out at around 3:00 am and is suspected to have originated from one of the hotels. A short circuit is suspected of causing the fire.
The incident was reported to the Fire Station at around 4:00 am, following which fire personnel responded to the site and took measures to control the blaze.
Preliminary estimates indicate that buildings and properties worth approximately Rs 25 lakh were destroyed in the fire. Additional losses were also reported, including goods worth around Rs 8 lakh from a godown, Rs 9 lakh in cash, another loss estimated at Rs 6 lakh and a further loss of approximately Rs 8 lakh.
The exact cause of the fire and the final extent of the losses are yet to be ascertained.
