Dimapur, September 21 (MExN): The FNR-RRaD (Forum for Naga Reconciliation– Recover, Restore and Decolonise) has expressed concern over the alleged mistreatment of two professors at Nagaland House following a documentary screening last week, demanding accountability.
The FNR-RRaD said it was “deeply troubled” by the September 15 incident in which staff at Nagaland House in RK Puram allegedly subjected Prof Dolly Kikon and Prof Sanjay Barbora to “disrespect, prejudice, humiliation and intimidation.”
The event, organised by the Naga Scholars' Association (NSA), screened Kikon's documentary A Sacred Place, followed by a dialogue between the filmmaker and young scholars.
The FNR-RRaD called the staff's “unprovoked and unwarranted” actions a “complete abuse of power and authority.”
It extended solidarity with Kikon and Barbora, professors at the University of California–Santa Cruz, and backed the NSA’s pursuit of the matter with authorities to ensure accountability and corrective measures.
“Every individual entering the premises of the Nagaland House (must) be treated with respect and dignity,” it said.
