Wokha, November 14 (MExN): Wokha Police on Friday confirmed the arrest of four individuals in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl. Superintendent of Police Wokha, T Relo Aye, NPS, stated that the arrests were made following a written complaint received on November 10, according to a report from the DIPR.
The accused have been identified as Chumlanthung Y Humtsoe (26), Zurenthung R Odyuo (19), Zuchanbemo Felix (29), and Khyothungo Yanthan (21). According to the complaint, the incident occurred on November 4, where Zurenthung R Odyuo was allegedly assaulting the minor along with two of his friends.
A case has been registered at the Wokha Women Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
During investigation, another individual, Myinthungo Humtsoe, was identified as being involved in the offence and is currently absconding. Police said efforts to trace him are ongoing. The investigation is in progress.
