Kohima, November 1 (MExN): The four apex tribal students ’ union (Rengma Students’ Union, Pochury Students’ Union, Chakhesang Students’ Union and Zeliangrong Students Union, Nagaland) has expressed dismay over the state government's failure to respond to the representation on the matter of Special Recruitment Drive (SRD).
The four apex tribal students union in a press conference on November 1 stated that the government had neglected them. They stated that it had submitted a representation to the chief secretary on October 20 last, appealing the government to justify three points within 10 days from the date of the said representation (which expired on October 30) but it had not received response from the state government so far.
On cancellation of SRD examination, the four apex tribal students union said “It is an insult to our community.” Saying that the government had failed to defend them,” the four apex tribal students’ union said “We want the government to give a clear picture on the cancellation of the examination.”
“We are waiting for response from the government,” it said adding that further course of action will be taken in consultation with the apex tribal body. We want to show resentment to the government,” it said adding it wants sincerity from the government.
It may be recalled that on the backdrop of the SRD, the four apex tribal students’ union, through a representation submitted to the chief secretary on October 20, 2011 had questioned the state government for the “unjustifiable act upon the four less represented tribes of Nagas.”
The representation said the government on cancellation of the SRD examination, without the cabinet sitting should be made clarified to the four apex tribal students union. The representation stated that besides the 6 tribes from Eastern Nagas declining on SRD examination, the four apex tribal students union demands that the cabinet decision on SRD should stand still and the date and commencement of the SRD exam should be notified at the earliest to avoid further complication.
