A free medical camp for the residents of New Reserve and Lerie Chazou in Kohima under the initiative of MLA Dr Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso took place at New Reserve Council Hall on September 19.
Addressing a brief programme before the commencement of the camp, Dr Ato said that he along with dedicated medical team had conducted numerous health camps in 25 locations across the state under the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre (CMMOT) initiative.
This free medical camp being conducted across various wards in Kohima was part of Dr Ato’s good will gesture and according the community health as his priority in building a healthier community and better future.
Dr Ato who represents the 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency, assured to continue extending such health outreach initiative to other wards of the state capital Kohima.
Vincent Belho, General Manager, Family Planning Association of India (FPAI) Nagaland state also delivered a short speech. He highlighted the importance of cervical cancer awareness, early screening, HPV vaccination, and HIV prevention through Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). He encouraged the public to seek timely medical care and make use of the health services available through FPA India.
Touching on family planning, he said that family planning allows people to attain their desired number of children and ensuring that families are financially and socially capable of providing good education, healthcare, and overall wellbeing for children.
The medical camp featured blood test, ultra sound, ENT screening, dental check up, consultation, home service for bedridden and elderly patients, cervical screening (PAP Smear), BP and sugar check up.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Thepfuneisa Sileo while Rev Tho-o Neihu invoked God’s blessings. Keneizekho Sopfü spoke on behalf of Lerie Chazou Youth and New Reserve Youth Organization. Vote of thanks was proposed by Petevilie Livi, chairman Lerie Chazou Council.
