Dzulha Village/Phek District (MExN): Minister for Higher Education, Urban Development & Planning Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu today expressed deep concern over the misutilization of the money meant for the self-employment activities in the state.
“There has been very little amount of progress in the implementation of the project as most of the beneficiaries failed to show their consciousness to utilize the fund in proper manner”, the Minister lamented.
Speaking at the 59th General Conference of the Chakhesang Students Union here, Dr. Liezietsu, who also holds the portfolio of Co-operation, Economic & Statistics and Evaluation said that the government has been extending self-employment opportunities like Chief Ministers Corpus Fund, PMRY, etc. to the educated unemployed youths. He, however, regretted that the beneficiaries used up the money without any work and thereby stalling the very purpose of government schemes.
He called upon the people to change their attitude and put more effort towards effective implementation of the self implemented related ventures.
“The world is changing very fast, in which the people of the state too, need to catch up with the competitive world”, the Minister said adding only through education “we can go forward and compete with the rest of the world.”
Maintaining that only the ‘best of the best’ could find a place in the competitive world, he challenged the students to devote more time in their study and enhance their academic record.
Saying that job opportunities in the government sector have reached saturation point, the Minister called upon the youth not only to seek government jobs alone but to involve in self employment activities and become self-reliant.
The Minister also called upon the students to keep distance from social evils and build their confidence in their search for truthful education.
He also asked them to develop healthier body and mind and at the same time underlined the need to create conducive atmosphere to live in. Earlier, CSU president Meitsikhoyo Yhobu said that to be a productive society and survive as a people “we must rise up and build our society together.”
The president also stressed the need to fortify the torch of unity and feeling of oneness, which has been handed “to us by our forefathers and bygone leaders.”
Dr. Liezietsu donated Rs. 1 lakh towards the CSU fund. Minister for Agriculture, Printing & Stationery Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, former Minister Zachilhu Vadeo, Ex-MLA Kewezu Kenye and several other dignitaries graced the inaugural function.
The function was chaired by Neichute Doulo, coordinator Entrepreneur Associate. The conference will go on till January 12.
