Kohima, July 9 (MExN): Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Thursday reviewed the functioning of the Tribal Affairs Department, stressing effective implementation of tribal development programmes, timely completion of infrastructure projects and efficient utilisation of resources to ensure benefits reach intended beneficiaries.

Chairing a review meeting at Lok Bhavan in Kohima, the Governor was given a comprehensive presentation on the department's functioning, major schemes, infrastructure projects and their implementation status across the state.

Officials briefed him on budget allocations, progress under Article 275(1), the Development Action–Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (DA-JGUA), the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY) and the implementation of community infrastructure projects in tribal areas. The Governor reviewed the status of both completed and ongoing projects.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in the state.

Officials informed the Governor that three EMRSs are currently functional with a total enrolment of 751 students and that all three schools recorded a 100 per cent pass rate in the HSLC Examination 2026.

Yadav was also apprised of the progress of new EMRS campuses being constructed in various districts and the challenges affecting timely completion, including land-related issues, power and water connectivity, and approach roads.

He underscored the importance of close monitoring, transparency and coordinated efforts among all stakeholders for the holistic development of tribal communities across Nagaland.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of the Tribal Affairs Department and officials of the Governor's Secretariat.
