Dimapur, June 30 (MExN): In a bid to overcome geographical barriers and ensure HIV services reach the most inaccessible corners of the state, the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) has initiated the ‘Health on Bike – Reaching the Unreached.’

Under the initiative, dedicated outreach coordinators carry essential medical supplies and HIV service kits on motorbikes to reach key populations in difficult terrain across the state, NSACS said in a post on its official X handle on Tuesday.

“In the remote villages of Nagaland, where the absence of motorable roads and public transport limits access to routine HIV services, Nagaland SACS is ensuring healthcare reaches those who need it most through ‘Health on Bike – Reaching the Unreached,’” it stated.
The services delivered include “HIV prevention, testing, ART, STI/TB screening, condoms and harm reduction services directly to key populations.” NSACS said the initiative aims to ensure that geographical barriers do not stand in the way of healthcare access, asserting that “no distance or terrain is too difficult” in the effort to extend services to underserved communities.

“Where the terrain is tough, hope rides on two wheels,” the NSACS posted highlighting the challenge of delivering routine HIV care in poorly connected districts.
