NBSE held a one-day orientation programme on the secondary-stage card in two phases, on October 28 in Dimapur, and on October 30 in Jotsoma, Kohima.
Kohima, November 3 (MExN): The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) will introduce the Holistic Progress Card in all registered schools in the state from the academic session beginning January 2027, the board said on Tuesday.
The card will be introduced for Class IX in 2027 and for Class X in 2028, according to a press release.
To prepare teachers, the NBSE held a one-day orientation programme on the secondary-stage card in two phases, on October 28 at Greenwood School in Kuda Village, Dimapur, and on October 30 at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA) in Jotsoma, Kohima. The programme was organised under the guidance of PARAKH, NCERT.
One Class IX teacher from each registered school, representing all 17 districts of the state, attended the programme.
The Holistic Progress Card is a national instrument for assessing a learner’s progress and development, designed by PARAKH under the National Education Policy 2020. It records a learner’s progress throughout the year rather than at a single point through an examination. Besides the teacher’s assessment, it carries the learner’s own reflection and a classmate’s feedback.
Every activity on the card is assessed against three abilities -- Awareness, Sensitivity and Creativity -- at three levels: Beginner, Proficient and Advanced.
NBSE Chairperson Rangumbuing Nsarangbe delivered the welcome address, while Prof Indrani Bhaduri, CEO and Head of PARAKH, the National Assessment Centre under NCERT, delivered the keynote address virtually. Sessions at Dimapur were taken by a resource person from PARAKH, NCERT, and those at Jotsoma by Board officials.
The sessions covered Parts A to F of the card and the official “How to Fill” guidelines. Teachers did practical work, including filling a mock student profile and conducting a mock Parent-Teacher Interaction.
Participants were given a compendium of the day’s activities with worked answers, a roadmap of the implementation year aligned to the Board’s academic calendar, and a reference poster for the staff room.
The participating teachers will now orient the remaining secondary-level teachers in their schools. Schools must submit an Action Taken Report to the Board by December 15, 2026.
Video tutorials on filling the card are available on the official NBSE YouTube channel, and the resource materials used at the orientation have been uploaded to the Board’s portal.
