ICAR geared up to host national seminar on agriculture

Seminar to discuss transforming the existing hill agriculture into self sustainable and emerging dollar earner in 2050
 
Phek, January 20 (MExN): Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is fully geared up for the forthcoming national seminar on “Emerging Challenges and Prospective Strategies for Hill Agriculture in 2050” scheduled to be held from January 23-25, 2014 organized by Indian Association of Hill Farming at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jharnapani, Medziphema.

The programme will commence by inaugurating the newly established ‘Citrus Processing Plant’ at ICAR complex by Governor of Nagaland, Dr. Ashwani Kumar. The programme will be chaired by Dr. A.K. Sikka, DDG (NRM), ICAR, New Delhi. Other distinguished guests will be Dr. K.R. Dhiman, Ex. VC, YSPUH&F, Solan; Dr. S.P. Ghosh, Ex-DDG (Horticulture), ICAR, New Delhi; Dr. K.M. Brajarbaruah, VC, AAU, Jorhat and Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director, ICARRCNEH, Umiam.

Dr Bidyut C. Deka, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region, Nagaland Centre in a press release said that approximately150 participants are being expected from all over the country.

This seminar will provide a common platform for the scientists, researchers, policy makers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to explore the various aspects of emerging challenges in agriculture and allied sector. The event is expected to discuss the prospective strategies in issues related to natural resource management, organic agriculture, livestock based business opportunities, climate smart agriculture, value addition and policy issues on marketing etc. for transforming the existing hill agriculture into self sustainable and emerging dollar earner in 2050.
