ICAR organizes Model Training Course

Medziphema, October 18 (MExN): ICAR-Research complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema conducted 8 days Model training course (October 18 to 25) on “Sustainable crop production, protection and Value addition of citrus in NEH Region” sponsored by DAC & Farmers’ welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ welfare, GOI for state govt. officials.  

The training course was mainly focused on scientific production techniques of citrus production, management of present burning issues persist in the farmer’s field and to explore the great opportunities present towards the processing sector of citrus in NE Region. The training includes theory and hands-on sessions on different aspects of citrus were covered by subject experts from ICAR Research Complex Umiam Meghalaya, Nagaland Centre, Manipur Centre, SASRD and CIH Medziphema.  

Further, the Director Dr. S. V. Ngachan, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Meghalaya addressed the participants on various issues of production of quality planting materials, conservation of different species of Citrus and opportunities present in the NE Region to uplift the livelihood of Citrus farmers in NE Region. Participants were shared their learning experience about the training programme.  

Altogether, 20 participants from different parts of the Northeastern Region are attended the course, comprising of officials from various state developmental department, SAU’s and KVKs.
