Dimapur, December 12(MExN): The 2nd Guwahati Woolen Expo organized by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC)got underway today at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre in Guwahati. H.N. Das IAS (Retd.), Former Chief Secretary, Govt. of Assam and Jagadish Borah, Managing Director North East Handloom & Handicraft Development Corporation jointly inaugurated the 10 days Guwahati Woolen Expo at 3pm on December 11, 2011 at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, Car Parking Area, Guwahati along with G L Agarwalla, Chairman, G L Publications; Nakib Ahmed, Sr. Advisor, Indian Chamber of Commerce delivered welcome address on behalf of the organizers at the inaugural function. Several Government officials and other dignitaries from various sectors and business houses were present to grace the event. Woolen weavers cum traders from across the North east and eastern region of the country including the local weavers will participate in the woolen expo
After successfully holding the Shillong Woolen Expo 2011 that concluded on November 21, 2011 with 50 weavers, entrepreneurs and SHGs and thousands of visitors at All Saints Hall Shillong, the expo landed in commercial of hub of Nagaland that is Dimapur. The 10 days Dimapur Woolen Expo that began from December 1, 2011 at Super Market Area, Dimapur and concluded on December 10, 2011 got an overwhelming response amidst the hornbill festival.
The ICC in association with CWDB is organizing Woolen Expo in the Northeast to meet the demand supply and promote wool and woolen products and encourage weavers and entrepreneurs. He further requested the people of Assam in particular Guwahati city to extend support to the woolen expo in Guwahati.
