Dimapur, December 5 (MExN): The 3rd joint quarterly meeting of Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre (ICTC) and District TB Cell (DTC) Staff was conducted at District TB Officer Conference Hall, Tuensang on November 28. The meeting was organized by the Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) supported by the Catholic Health Association of India in collaboration with the State RNTCP.
District Coordinator in a press note informed that the main objectives of the meeting was to strengthen the cross referral mechanism for identification of TB in PLHIV (People living with HIV) in the district and to enable the coordinative work between ICTCs and DMCs in the district towards cross referrals.
The staffs were briefed thoroughly on the Tuberculosis and its treatment services. DCO, Kyupise Sangtam said that not only the HIV positive to be referred to DMC but if you observe him that he has a cough for more than two weeks must referred to the DMC even if it is negative for Sputum test for the TB diagnose which can help the patient to start his early treatment on DOTs to save his life and prevent from further spreading. Health staff were also clearly explain about the indicators on the referral slips developed by the RNTCP to be maintain at ICTC and even DMC staff to be keep the register separately for the cross referrals of patients sent from ICTCs.
Sangtam also shared the last quarter agendas which was following positively from both the centers of Health Staff and declared that with the coming of the Project Axshya, more patients were now enrolling at the centers and the Health systems in the district with the active support from the concerned health officials and staffs was immensely improving a lot which is the goal of all the individuals and the Government and also acknowledged both the service staff for their overall improvement in quality services rendered to the HIV-TB patients and shown considerably increased in referrals services from both the centers.
The participants were mostly comprised of 14 staff of Counsellors, Laboratory Technicians and Staff of the ICTC and DMC was present.
