DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 19 (MExN): The 14th Jalukie Valley Open Football Tournament 2020 organised by the Jalukie Valley Youth Organization (JVYO) kicked off on February 18 at Jalukie 'B' Local Ground. 


The tournament was declared open by YM Yollow Konyak, MLA. Rejuvenating old memories of his young days as a footballer, Yollow said that football is one of the most disciplined games and urged all the players to play with honour. He mentioned that there is immense talent amongst the Nagas. Citing Dr T Ao, he challenged all the players to excel and also hoped that a star player would emerge in the days ahead. 


Machigwang Mpom, the president of JVYO welcomed all the participating teams and highlighted the background of the tournament. He also expressed gratitude to Masang, PS to former CM of Nagaland TR Zeliang and Advisor, JVYO, for assisting the organization financially, physically and morally. Mpom also mentioned that without him the tournament would not have materialized. 


The inaugural ceremony witnessed a huge participation of spectators across all age groups and was chaired by L Johnson, Advisor, JVYO. Opening spotlight and a special song was presented by Jalukie 'B' Baptist Church Youth Department. 


The tournament will conclude on February 25. It holds a prize money of Rs. 1 lakh for the champion and Rs. 50,000 for the runner-up.
