JCC announces intensification of strike over IAS induction

•     From pen-down to tools-down strike from November 6

•    Essential services and associated employees/officers exempted

Kohima, November 5 (MExN): The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC), comprising CANSSEA, FONSESA, NIDA, NSSA, and NF&ASA, has announced the intensification of its ongoing pen-down strike and the commencement of a tools down strike, effective from November 6.

In a circular issued on Tuesday, the JCC stated that no positive response had been received from the government more than 40 days into the ongoing peaceful agitation, prompting the escalation.

The committee emphasised that the strike will continue until their demands for the restoration of merit in the IAS induction process are met.

The tools-down strike, which had previously been on hold, will involve the active participation of the All Nagaland Government Drivers’ Association, Nagaland Civil Secretariat Drivers’ Association, All Nagaland Directorate & District Government Drivers’ Union, and the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Grade-IV Staff Employees Association.

The JCC’s demands include the restoration of the March 10, 2025 vacancy circular and the withdrawal of non-NPSC/backdoor candidates from the panel list.

The committee reiterated that the agitation will be democratic and peaceful.

Meanwhile, the JCC clarified that all essential services as well as employees or officers associated with those are exempted from the purview of this tools-down strike.

Members of the JCC in all directorates and service associations have been urged to ensure that essential services are not disrupted and that the protest is confined strictly to the workplace.

Any violation of these guidelines will be the sole responsibility of the individual involved, the circular noted.

The JCC called on its members to continue the agitation until transparency and merit are fully restored in the IAS induction process.
