KLBC Celebrates World Sunday School Day

Kohima, November 6 (DIPR): Along with the rest of the world, the Kohima Lotha Baptist Church (KLBC) celebrated World Sunday School day today at its main church, where the Associate Pastor of the church Rev.A.Khyolamo Jami gave a sermon on the topic “Blessed Children.”
Exhorting the congregation, the Rev. said that God loves children in a special way because they have clean hearts and further preached that children are Jesus’ best friends. Pointing out that Sunday school department help bring the children closer to God, he asked the believers to continue to pray for the Sunday school teachers and children. He further referred Sunday school as the best institution in the world founded by Jesus Christ and encouraged that those serving in this institution are rendering their royal services of High calling.
The Rev. also exhorted particularly the graduating Sunday school students to acknowledge the love of God, as they enter a new chapter of their youth life. “Let the lessons learnt during Sunday school days be the tree of Light,” he advised.
On the occasion, Pastor KLBC Rev.Mhathung Lotha gave away certificates of recognition to 69 graduating Sunday school students of KLBC and prayed for them.
CNY Director KLBC, Zubeni Ezung said that children more than any other group of people are receptive to the gospel, and opined that they could make a difference through their involvement in the world as a Christian. Towards this end, she emphasized on the importance of imparting biblical knowledge to the children and sent out a message to the adults to carry on the work assigned to them as a Christian.
Commemorating the day, Sunday school students presented colourful items including dances, mono-acts, songs and choreography. The special devotional service was chaired by Associate CNY Director, Wopenthung Kithan while Associate Pastor KLBC Sankiluma Kikon invoked God’s blessings. The institution of Sunday school was founded by Robert Raikes in England in the year 1780, who is regarded as the Father of Sunday School. In India, Sunday school was founded by Serampore Trio under the initiative of Marshman in Calcutta in the year 1800.
