The Kyong Nchumchio Okho (KNO) is set to host the Tokhu Night 2025 on November 7 at the Multi-Disciplinary Sports Complex in Dimapur. The event will coincide with the Lotha post-harvest festival, Tokhu Emong.
According to KNO chairman, Mhademo, the organisation was formed on January 30, 2010, by a group of 12 like-minded people to engage in charitable community programmes. These initiatives have included medical camps and providing support to orphanages and orphaned children’s education.
KNO Advisor Benathung Kithan stated that Tokhu Night became an annual event featuring entertainment programs. After a hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was successfully revived in 2024.
Last year’s event reportedly drew a crowd of 4,000-5,000 people.
According to KNO member, Benjamin, the motive behind the event is to encourage and promote local talents, and expressed hope that it would help local artists get recognised. He said that the KNO is made up of 40 members from diverse professions, all dedicated to the welfare of the community. He added that while their activities are modest, they are purposeful and want to inspire the younger generation.
This year’s event will feature performances by three bands and various solo artists, including Renchumi Ezung. A raffle draw will also be part of the festivities.
Entry to Tokhu Night is free and open to all. The venue will have food stalls, with allotment subject to prior booking. For stall reservations, interested parties can contact 7085126582.
