Kohima Group NCC excels at NER award ceremony

Awardees representing the Kohima Group of the National Cadet Corps during the NCC North Eastern Region (NER) Annual Awards 2025-26 held in Shillong on May 5.

Kohima, May 6 (MExN): The Kohima Group of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) brought laurels to Nagaland after securing multiple honours at the NCC North Eastern Region (NER) Annual Awards 2025-26 on May 5.

The awards were presented by Meghalaya’s Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla along with Additional Director General, NCC (NER), Major General Anurag Vij at the event held at Rhino Auditorium,  Shillong Cantonment.

Among the awardees, Senior Under Officer (SUO) Nuvekholu Dozo of 1 NL Air Squadron received the late Flying Officer Simon Kachari Memorial Award. 

SUO Khumcholi Anar of 24 Nagaland Battalion was named the Best Senior Division (SD) Cadet from Nagaland, while Junior Under Officer (JUO) Suyimnaro was adjudged the Best Senior Wing (SW) Cadet from the state.

Associate NCC Officers (ANO) S/O Hitovi Sumi and T/O Mongshai Shiu T were also honoured as the Best Male ANO and Best Female ANO, respectively, from Nagaland.

Wg Cdr M Herojit Singh and JWO Ram Babu Roy receives the Best Air Squadron in the NER award conferred to 1 NL Air Squadron during the NCC North Eastern Region (NER) Annual Awards 2025-26 held in Shillong on May 5.

 

In the institutional category, St Xavier Higher Secondary School was recognised as the Overall Best School, while Fazl Ali College was named the Overall Best College in Nagaland.

Meanwhile, the 1 NL Air Squadron was also adjudged the Best Air Squadron in the NER, with the award received by Wing Commander M Herojit Singh and Junior Warrant Officer Ram Babu Roy.

Congratulating the awardees, Brigadier Shantanu P Mainkar, Group Commander, Kohima Group NCC, lauded their dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence.

He also urged cadets and staff to continue striving for higher standards and contribute towards nation-building, according to a press release issued by Wg Cdr Singh, Commanding Officer of 1 NL Air Squadron NCC, Dimapur, under Kohima Group NCC.
