KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 15 (DIPR): A Kohima Open Half Marathon, conceding with the Hornbill Festival, covering a distance of 20 km will be conducted on 7th December 2011 in Kohima. The event is being organized by Elite Entertainment Enterprise (3E) with a view to promote youth activities and modern sports.
Speaking to the media persons at a press conference at Hotel Orchid on 15th November 2011, Co- coordinator for the event, Kethosituo Mepfhuo said that the 20 km marathon will be flagged of at 7 a.m on 7th December 2011 from TCP gate and finish off at Kohima local ground via IG Stadium, New High Court junction, DIS/DEO junction New Secretariat, TM Government High School, DBHSS, Kenuozou and Baptist High. The total prize money will be Rs. 1.05 lakhs where the winner will walk away with Rs. 50,000.
The organizers said that only 200 forms will be issued and will be available at Orchid Store, Razhu Point Kohima, Sportsworld, Taxi Stand Kohima and Universal Sports, Church Road Dimapur. The forms will be given out on first come first basis. Last date for submission of forms will be 5th December 2011. The organizers also informed that a briefing will be conducted on 6th December 2011 at the Kohima Local ground at 3 p.m with the participants.
The open half marathon will be the first venture for 3E as a group. The group was formed with an aim to promote youth activities and modern sports. The group also aims to breed national/international champions in athletics like marathon where talent aspirant can make do without much infrastructure but just will power and encouragement.
3E also plans to, gradually, conduct activities like indigenous pro wrestling, state wide quiz campaign, wild life photography contest, X- games and extreme adventure sports. The official website of Elite Entertainment Enterprise will also be launched soon, the organizers mentioned.
