Kohima | October 21 : Asserting that many changes are taking place in the modern society, chief secretary Lalthara today called upon the NCS officers to continue to upgrade their knowledge in all aspects and establish their own brand identity. Speaking at the 39th general conference of Nagaland Civil Service Association (NCSA) here today, Lalthara opined that they have to continue to upgrade their knowledge throughout their service and at the same time stress on the necessity of more training and refresher courses for them. He said, the NCS officers serve every kind of people in civil services and which should be taken as an opportunity.
Maintaining that Nagaland Civil Service is the most privileged section, he said that there are endless opportunities in serving the people which do not offer in any other field. He also said that being in the NCS also provides maximum opportunities for self improvement. Lalthara also encouraged the officers to look at their jobs in a positive way. “Let us not be too ambitious,” he said and challenged the officers to do their jobs well and at the same time assured that the government will see that justice is done to them. He also urged them to be more professional and maintain discipline and devotion to their duty.
Lathara also called for maintaining the feeling of fraternity and foster unity among themselves.

Khulu IAS, observing that the quality of intake into Nagaland Civil Services have improved, said that despite the various constraints which our society is facing, the youths still possess quality knowledge. He described NCS officers as the backbone of the administration.
Also expressing concern over the problem of climate change citing the destruction by storm, frequent rise of temperature, rivers drying and the like, he stressed on the need to maintain biodiversity and eco system.
Also speaking on the occasion, Nagaland DGP K. Kire said the most intellectual people are selected for Nagaland Civil Services and referred to them as the creamy layer of the society. He also maintained that, as administrative officers, one should know what’s going on in all the departments.
