Dimapur, January 11 (MExN): The Lions Club of Dimapur Elite observed ‘Hunger Free Week’ from January 3 to 11 as part of the Lions International District 322-D's ‘Hunger Free India’ initiative.

Under the programme, the club distributed dry ration kits in the bustees of Half Nagarjan and Kuda Village. Each kit contained rice, dal, and soya bari, providing essential food support to underprivileged families. The drive reached over 1,000 beneficiaries, a press release stated.

Coinciding with Makar Sankranti celebrations, the club also distributed kites, juices, and chips to children. Clothes and woollen garments were provided to people across all age groups.

The week also included a 'Hunger Week for Voiceless Beings', focusing on the welfare of birds and animals. Volunteers placed grains, seeds, and rice in open spaces for birds, set out bowls of clean drinking water, and offered food to stray dogs, cows, and other needy animals.

The programmes were organised under the leadership of Club President Lion Meena Sethi, with support from Secretary Lion Prernaa Maheswarri and Treasurer Lion Sakchi Jain. Project Chairpersons Lion Isha Jain and Lion Prity Jain coordinated the service activities.
