Longleng, September 20 (MExN): The monthly District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for September was held on September 18 at the DPDB Hall, Longleng, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman, DPDB Longleng, W Manpai Phom, NCS.
The Department of Medical briefed the members on the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and urged board members and well-wishers to extend financial assistance to TB patients.
The chairman briefed the house on major development projects in the district, including the Light House project at Government Higher Secondary School, Longleng, and the ongoing construction of the District Hospital, Longleng.
After reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the house discussed a proposal from the Medical Department for establishment of a blood storage unit and blood bank at District Hospital, Longleng. The Medical Superintendent highlighted the requirement, following which the house approved the proposal for forwarding to the higher authority.
The house also discussed the proposed external electrification and installation of a new 100 kV distribution transformer for the new District Hospital building.
The members further discussed organising a departmental sports meet in October.
The chairman entrusted the District Planning Officer of the Social Welfare Department with collecting data on the number of Anganwadi centres functioning in private and government buildings.
The Department of School Education, represented by the DEO and SDEO, Longleng, presented its activities through a PowerPoint presentation. The Additional Deputy Commissioner requested the department to submit the reasons for 10 schools being blacklisted.
The Police Department was entrusted with making a presentation at the next DPDB meeting.
Noklak DPDB meeting
The Noklak DPDB meeting was held on September 15 at the SP Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman, DPDB Noklak, P Mono Khiamniungan.
The chairman welcomed the members, followed by a review of the minutes of the previous meeting.
The meeting discussed a proposal submitted by the AEO, Noklak, for upgradation of Union Mission Pathso (UMS Pathso) from Class 8 to Class 9.
After deliberation, the house decided to recommend the proposal to the department, considering the fulfilment of the required criteria and the verification report submitted by the concerned department.
The Social Welfare Department made a PowerPoint presentation on various activities and welfare programmes implemented for vulnerable and disadvantaged sections of society.
CDPO Noklak, CDPO Thonoknyu and the District Mission Coordinator highlighted initiatives relating to child welfare, women's welfare, support for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, nutrition, social security and other assistance programmes.
The department was encouraged to continue and strengthen its outreach, particularly in rural and remote areas, to ensure eligible persons can access and avail themselves of available welfare services and benefits.
SDO Civil Noklak Vikhoto Richa, presenting on behalf of the Urban Development Department, highlighted the salient features of the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules 2026 and the roles and responsibilities of various departments.
The members also deliberated on the current status of implementation of the SWM Rules 2026 in the district.
The house entrusted the Forest Department with making a PowerPoint presentation at the next DPDB meeting.
Members of the DPDB Noklak also attended a video conference with the Department of Planning and Transformation as part of a sensitisation programme on Reform Utsav 2026.
