Longsa Senso Mungdang celebrates its 75th year

Longsa, December 16 (MExN): Longsa Senso Mungdang (Longsa Village Citizens Conference) today celebrated its Platinum Jubilee on the theme ‘progress through unity of citizens’ with Home Minister Imkong L Imchen as the chief guest. Longsa Village which lies around 35 kilometers away from Mokokchung town is one of the biggest and most prominent villages in the Ao country. The Senso Mungdang which attained its 75th year of existence was attended by citizens of the Longsa village, government officials and also legislators.
The chief guest, Imkong L Imchen (Home Minister) while speaking at the programme dwelled on the importance of unity in the society. He said that where there is unity, there is God. He therefore called upon the citizens of Longsa village to be united and be a model of harmony for the whole Naga people.
The main speaker of the programme Metsubo Jamir, Director of Rural Development, while speaking on the topic ‘vision for an equitable growth’ dwelled on three kinds of equity – self, village and the others. he maintained that only when one grows in equity with the self, the villagers and the others villagers, then there would be growth and progress in the society. He therefore urged the villagers to grow in wisdom and in unity for growth and progress in the village.
Meanwhile, the Longsa Senso Mungdang also adopted three resolutions during its Platinum Jubilee celebration; the first resolution was about the compilation of a book which would demarcate boundaries (map) of the Longsa village. The Mungdang also passed a resolution to award a cash of Rs 50,000 to any Longsa citizens who pass the IAS exams till the Mungdang attains its centenary year. Longsa Senso Telongjem Mokokchung presented a special song. MLA Toshipokba and Nuklotoshi also attended the programme.
