Manipur Commandos apprehend KCP personnel, seize IED bombs

Imphal | November 2 : Manipur's Bishnupur districT police commandos apprehended three hardcore cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Military Task Force) group along with two powerful IED bombs amidst heavy security arrangements for the two-day visit of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to the State, police said on Wednesday.
 Acting on a tip off, a team of Bishnupur district commandos led by officer-in-charge (commando) Sudhir under the supervision of district superintendent of police Th. Radheshyam raided several residences in Leimapokpam Awang Leikai under Nambol police station in the district and arrested three hardcore members of KCP (MTF) group along with two highly explosive IED bombs.
 The arrested were identified as Oinam Sobhachandra alias Ibungcha alias Guti, 35 s/o O. Rudra Singh, Oinam Maimu, 28 s/o (L) O. Nabachandra and Oinam Radhabinod alias Radha, 28, son of O. Yaima, all from Leimapokpam Awang Leikai, Bishnupur district, SP Radheshyam said.
 The bombs were recovered from the house of Sobhachandra. He was involved in two IED bombs attacks at the residence of minister N. Loken on October 18. However, one of the powerful bombs exploded near the gate of the minister’s residence at Leimapokpam Awang Leikai while the other  one was missed.
Two of the MTF cadres arrested by Bishnupur police were also involved in planting another bomb at the gate of agriculture minister Loken’s residence on October 31 but Bishnupur police commandos and a bomb squad team safely retrieved the bomb, he said.
The trio was working under one of the commanders of the MTF group, namely Ngangbam Sharat alias Somo, 37, son of Ng. Tombi of Sagoltongbam Awang Leikai, Bishnupur district, the police
officer claimed.
