DIMAPUR, JUNE 11 (MExN): The Meitei Christian Churches Council Manipur (MCCCM) has appealed to the Manipur Tribal Forum Delhi, to remove the names of the Meitei Churches from the petition they have filed in the Supreme Court with regard to the conflict in Manipur.
A press release from the Meitei Christian Churches Council said that it has received a draft copy of the Interlocutory Application and said that the petitioners have included some of the 251 Meitei Churches that were burned and dismantled during the current violence. “We strongly condemn this attempt to align the Meitei Churches with the Kukis in the aforementioned writ petition,” the council said.
“The petitioner should be held responsible for any consequences that may arise from the inclusion of Meitei churches without the consent of the individual churches,” it added.
It meanwhile said that the Meitei Christian Churches Council Manipur is a unified body representing Meitei churches and denominations; and are “dedicated to upholding peace, unity, and harmony among all communities and are committed to safeguarding the integrity of the state.”
