MDFA 2019: Wins for Telongjem FC and Kumlong SA

A formidable Telongjem FC and Kumlong SA took home all three points from their matches as they humbled Sungkomen FC and Mongsenbai Youngsters respectively in their first outings of the ongoing MDFA tourney here today. 

In the first match of the ongoing Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) Trophy 2019, Telongjem FC defeated Sungkomen FC in their Pool D encounter by a margin of three goals to nil, all of which came in the first half of play.

Nyithong Magh first scored for Telongjem in the 7th minute of play. Later, Purakum struck  twice in the 12th and 26th minutes, leaving  the Sungkomen formation in complete disarray. 

However, in the second half of the match, Sungkomen displayed some defiant football and looked dangerous at critical times but was not good enough to effect any change in the scorecard. Imtiyanger of Sungkomen was cautioned for foul play in the 11th minute.

In the second match, Kumlong SA got the better of their neighbours Mongsenbai Youngsters by a solitary goal which came in the 9th minute of play through the boots of their midfield player Lolenyuba. The match saw some questionable maneuvers by the players and the first red card of the tournament was shown to Bendangmoa of Mongsenbai Youngsters in the 43rd minute. He was earlier cautioned for foul play in the 14th minute. Limasunep of Mongsenbai was also booked for foul play in the 57th minute.
