MGM College Sports Week concludes with Red House as Champions

Dimapur, February 13 (MExN): The Annual Sports Week of MGM College Dimapur was held from February 10 to 13 with enthusiastic participation and an impressive display of sportsmanship by students and staff.

The week-long event aimed at promoting teamwork, discipline, physical fitness and a healthy competitive spirit among students.

The Sports Week began on February 10 with indoor games conducted at the college campus. The inaugural ceremony for the outdoor events was held on February 11 at the DDSC Stadium.

The programme was officially inaugurated by Fr Giju George, who encouraged students to actively participate in sports while upholding the spirit of healthy competition and fair play.

From February 11 to 13, a range of outdoor sporting events were conducted, including track and field competitions such as 100m and 200m races, relay races, long jump, high jump and shot put. Team events including tug of war, volleyball and football were also organised.

Participants displayed energy, discipline, resilience and camaraderie throughout the competitions, making the events closely contested and engaging.

House Captains and members of the Sports Committee played a key role in conducting the events, while the Student Council and volunteers ensured smooth coordination and management.

Enthusiastic support from students cheering for their respective houses added to the festive atmosphere.

The Sports Week concluded on February 13 with a closing ceremony and prize distribution. Winners of individual and team events were awarded medals and certificates in recognition of their performances. The Overall Team Championship Trophy was awarded to Red House for its consistent performance throughout the week.

In his closing address, Temjen Longkumer congratulated the participants and highlighted the importance of sports in building character, leadership, teamwork and perseverance among students. The programme concluded with a prayer by the Administrator.
