Students take part in the athletics during the Annual Sports & Games 2026 held at DDSCA Stadium, Golaghat Road.
Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, kicked off its Annual Sports & Games 2026 on Friday at DDSCA Stadium, Golaghat Road, with the theme ‘Sportsmanship, Discipline & Team Spirit.’
Kuruvila Cherian, Deputy Rubber Production Commissioner, Rubber Board, Dimapur, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour and declared the event officially open after hoisting the ceremonial flag.
He urged students to participate wholeheartedly and give their best in every competition, reminding them that winning is not everything, participation, continuous improvement, confidence-building and healthy competition are equally important aspects of sports.
In his presidential address, Fr Shaiju Philip, Vice President, highlighted the vital role of sports in shaping students' character and preparing them to face life's challenges. He urged participants to embrace discipline as the foundation of success, demonstrate determination in every endeavour, and learn to accept victory with humility, emphasising that true sportsmanship lies in respecting opponents and accepting both victory and defeat with grace and dignity.
The event began with a solo performance by Heirailube Nza of Class XI C, followed by the school anthem. Thejavile Pucho, Sports Secretary, led the oath-taking ceremony. Students of Classes III, IV and V presented a drill display, followed by "Unleashed: Let the Games Begin," a presentation by Classes VI and VII.
The event concluded on October 24 (Saturday).
