New Delhi, October 28 (MExN): The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, has approved the advance release of Rs 20 crore as the second instalment of the Central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to Nagaland for the financial year 2025-26.
The fund is aimed at providing immediate relief assistance to people affected by extremely heavy rainfall and flash floods, landslides during the south-west monsoon of this year, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs informed in a statement.
It further maintained that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Amit Shah, the Government of India “stands shoulder to shoulder” with State Governments during natural calamities, providing all necessary assistance for relief and recovery.
During the current financial year, the union government already released Rs 15,554 crore to 27 States under the SDRF and Rs 2,267.44 crore to 15 States under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), it said.
Further, a sum of Rs 4,571.30 crore has been released from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 21 States and Rs 372.09 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to nine States, it added.
The statement also informed that the Union Government has also extended logistic support to States hit by floods, landslides, and cloudbursts, including the deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, Army units, and Air Force assistance.
During 2025 monsoon season, a maximum of 199 NDRF teams were deployed across 30 States and Union Territories for rescue and relief operations, the Ministry informed.
