Imphal, November 28: Another round of talk was held on Monday between Sadar Hill District hood Demand Committee (SHDDC) and the State Government on the up gradation of Sadar Hills to a full-fledged district but the meeting ended without taking any resolution. This was stated by SHDDC president Ngamkhohao Haokip while talking to the media after the meeting which was started from 1pm and concluded at 2 pm at the Chief Minister’s bungalow Monday.
Ngamkhohao said, "We can put pressure on the State Government as the deadline given to it has been expired but considering the proposed visit of the Prime Minister and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on November 3 to the State being significant, SHDDC decided to remain a silent stand."
The next round of talks between the State Government and SHDDC will take place soon after the visit of the Prime Minister, he added. Ngamkhohao in an astonishing statement said that the counter economic blockade imposed by United Naga United Naga Council (UNC) and All Naga Students’ Association (ANSAM) should not call off the economic blockade as the agitation "yields a good support" to the demand of SHDDC. Asked how come he made such appeal to UNC and ANSAM, he said the counter blockade of the Naga organizations has kept reminding to the minds of the people about their demand for formation of Sadar Hills district.
The SHDDC delegate led by its president comprised of the committee general secretary Tonghen Kipgen and vice president Thangkam Lupheng, and on the State Government side it was represented by a State Cabinet minister and an MLA at the meeting. The names of the Government representatives were not officially available.
