MP Phangnon addresses Parliament for better sports infrastructure in Nagaland

NEW DELHI, MARCH 29 (MExN): Member of Parliament (MP) for Nagaland in the Rajya Sabha, S Phangnon Konyak raised a Special Mention during the Parliament session on March 27, urging the government to invest in and strengthen sports infrastructure in Nagaland.

Highlighting the immense potential of youth in the state, Phangnon emphasized the need for upgraded facilities, modern training centers, and better resources to nurture sporting talent. She pointed out that despite the growing enthusiasm for sports, the lack of adequate infrastructure continues to be a major challenge for athletes from Nagaland.

“In recent years, our youth have demonstrated remarkable talent and determination in various sporting disciplines. However, the absence of proper infrastructure limits their opportunities to compete at the national and international levels. It is imperative that we bridge this gap by enhancing existing facilities and creating new avenues for sports development in the state,” she stated.

Phangnon called on the government to allocate the necessary funds and develop a comprehensive plan to support aspiring sportspersons from Nagaland, ensuring they receive quality training and exposure to better opportunities.
