MPL decides to suspend matches
DIMAPUR, MARCH 20 (MExN): In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the MFA and MPL Managing Committee has unanimously decided to suspend the league with effect from gameweek 6.
April 13 has been proposed as a potential return date but that is subject to medical advice and conditions. The decision was taken in order to ensure the health and safety of the players, officials and staff, which remains the primary concern.
Meanwhile, gameweek 5 of LirunaS Morning Premier League (MPL) ended today at IG Stadium, Kohima, with a battle for second position between All Blacks and Unity FC.
Visa (jersey No.11) of All Blacks was the difference between the two teams as his hat-trick performance sealed all three points for the team. The final score line stood at 3-1 in favour of All Blacks.
At the end of gameweek 5, Kohima Raiders continued their unbeaten run in the league with their fifth win of the season over Morning FC (3-0) to cement their position at the top, All Blacks moved up to second after beating Unity FC, who dropped down two places to fourth after Mustang FC beat Merhulietsa FC by 3-2 earlier in the week to move up to 3rd place with 10 points.
Another significant shuffle in the standings was for Gazelle FC who moved up and out of the bottom to finish the week in 8th place after their dramatic comeback win (5-3) over Gethemgo FC, scoring four goals in the span of 14 minutes in the second half to complete the comeback victory.
