Mokokchung, September 21 (MExN): The 30th Alongtaki Assembly Constituency Congress Committee (ACCC) has demanded transparency and an impartial inquiry into the Mangkolemba Multi-Purpose Hall missing row, reportedly sanctioned under the Khelo India Scheme.
The 30th Alongtaki ACCC President A Chuba Longkumer and General Secretary (Admin) Tinuakum in a press statement expressed “serious concern” over the issues surrounding the project and said the people have every right to know the facts concerning its sanction, implementation, construction and utilisation.
Noting that Mangkolemba Sub-Division serves as the headquarters for three important ranges—Jangpetkong, Japukong and Tsurangkong—the ACCC said infrastructure developed there has significance far beyond one locality and serves the wider population of the three ranges.
The committee urged the concerned authorities to make all relevant records and details available for public scrutiny and to conduct an impartial inquiry into any alleged irregularities, ensuring that the facility ultimately serves the people of Mangkolemba and the three ranges.
“The 30th Alongtaki ACCC believes that seeking the truth is not an act of opposition for the sake of opposition; it is an essential part of democratic accountability,” the statement said, adding that public projects must withstand public scrutiny and legitimate questions raised by citizens and civil society must be answered transparently.
The ACCC extended its support to the Mangkolemba civil society organisations and the people in their pursuit of truth, transparency and accountability, and said it would continue to back every legitimate and democratic effort to ensure the matter reaches its logical conclusion.
