The present Nagas are living in a crucial age. Just mid-way of 2011 and we have seen many break-up/finger-pointing taking place. Brushing up with a few: the vying for the Presidentship of NNC and all the commotions arising which showed the hunger for power and disharmony among them. Then the blame game between Congress and NPF started again, general election being approaching. If only they had stop and invested their valuable time for the betterment and future of Nagaland, then the public will know who is what/not through their works and not their mouths.
The recent split in the NSCN/GPRN (K) is of serious concern. This ought to be the top-most issue of all the frontal Naga organisations. The Govt. of Nagaland has no/very less role to play. Another party means more tax to pay and it's only the poor public who are affected the most. I do support our Naga cause but, if the taxation and extortion things are not controlled properly; a day will come when the public leads a miserable life and will be extremely fed-up that God forbid, stop supporting our freedom fighters. All the write-ups blaming one another in order to win the Nagas' trust is not of much use 'cause the public very well know who are the de-facto for their own monetary, power, wealth & selfish gain.
The FNR is doing its best but the one thing that confuses me is 'All groups support reconciliation'. Reconciliation follows Forgiveness and when there is no forgiveness, can there be true reconciliation?? The FNRs journey of common hope welcomes all Naga political groups and in this time of reconciliation process, when divisions are taking place, what will happen when we reach the destination of that journey of common hope everyone, including me, so desires?? Will there be only one unified Naga political group or, fragment of group of groups?? If the frontal Naga organisations don't take a strong stand now, Nagaland will be no worser than Manipur with so many factional groups operating. Is that what we want for the present and future generation Nagas to live in???
There are many concerned Naga citizens whose voices are not paid heed because they hold not much status/position in society. The column 'Nagas in a transitional period' by T. Kyong in MeX is hard facts and many more should come up with such truths. The British 'Divide & Rule' policy of India was successful to a great extent. Every Naga knows that yet the same policy is very successful on the Nagas. It is our greed that we are being 'Divided and Ruled'. Is there no way that we throw our selfish-intentions away, humble ourselves and compromise with each other? There is only one way & it’s possible if we are Christians. Wish Nagaland is a Christian State; not a Christianity State!!!
