The authority of neighbouring country, Myanmar, has started screening for coronavirus to the people entering to the country from Indian side at Indo-Myanmar border gates, bordering Manipur, reports said. Medical officers of Myanmar conducted the screening by using fever screening device at the immigration offices at the border gate from today (Monday), the reports added.

Every person entering Myanmar at the border gates between Moreh in Manipur and Namthalong of Myanmar is subjected to the screening.

Indo-Myanmar border trade is largely taking place through Moreh, the Manipur town at the border with Myanmar and Namphalong of Myanmar’s Sagaing Division.

Moreh is the major border trading hub. As such hundreds of people from both the countries cross the border at two official gates everyday.

Not only for cross border trade purpose but people from Indian side used to cross the border to buy goods from Namphalong market located just adjacent to Moreh.

The Myanmar authority has taken up the step as precautionary measures to check spread of the disease to their country.
