Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The “Pork Eating and Naga Chilli Contests” will be held on December 4, 2011, during the Hornbill Festival this year. Both the events will be held on the same day from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM, at the Heritage Village, Kisama. These events have been managed by XL Nagaland under the aegis of the Tourism Department, Government of Nagaland.
XL Nagaland Event Coordinator, Dr. Tolto Metha has informed that anyone above the age of 18 years can participate in any of the events. Organized with the sole objective of promoting the Naga Chilli, which has already received rave reviews around the globe for its amazing Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) and the indigenous sport “Pork Eating Contest”, the organizers feel that further promotion through such events will not only put Nagaland into the cultural map of the world and help the local farmers, but also boost eco-tourism in the state. For both the events, a total prize money of Rs. 60,000/- will be given away to the winners.
Interested persons can avail entry forms from the Dream Café, TCP Gate, Ser’s Bazar, Kohima, and submit the same without fail on or before 2nd of December 2011, at the Dream Café.
