Naga farmer from Wokha receives ICAR award

Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): A farmer hailing from Wokha District, Atheo Lotha has been awarded Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Anthyodaya Krishi Puruskar, 2019 (Zonal level) by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, GOI, New Delhi during the 92nd ICAR foundation day. 


Atheo Lotha received cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a certificate during the award distribution ceremony held on July 16 for his contribution towards Development of Integrated Farming System (IFS) Model for Tribal Jhumias. 


The Senior Scientist & Head and Staff of ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Wokha while congratulating said that Atheo is a successful progressive farmer guided and promoted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Wokha for integrated farming system during the year 2016-17 and since, then he has been adopting Integrated Farming System approach for better farm income generation and resource conservation. “He has also actively involved in promotion of Integrated Farming system to his fellow farmers in the district,” it added.
