Dimapur Government College NCC Unit and Tetso College NCC Unit, under the aegis of 24 Nagaland Bn NCC, Kohima organised a blood donation awareness programme on May 28. The event witnessed participation of 34 NCC cadets, accompanied by 1 Associate NCC Officer (ANO), 1 Care-Taking Officer (CTO), and 1 PI Staff. The event commenced with an awareness rally from City Tower to the District Hospital Dimapur, aimed at spreading awareness about importance of blood donation. At the District Blood Bank, NCC cadets donated blood.A meeting of the National TB Elimination Programme Forum was held at the DPDB Hall, Longleng on May 28. Dr Temsusashi, District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), presented the concept and formation of the District TB Forum. He highlighted the forum’s roles, objectives, and the critical importance of each member’s contribution. The DTO also shared data reflecting the current TB situation in Longleng, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts to address the challenges. DC Longleng W Manpai Phom spoke on the significant role that NGOs and churches can play in raising awareness, supporting patients, and facilitating TB elimination initiatives at the grassroots level.ELEMENT (Enhancing Landscape and Ecosystem Management), Nagaland Project conducted its first Implementation Support Mission from May 27 to 29 at Hotel Vivor, Kohima. Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor, Agriculture Department, Wezope Kenye, IAS, Agriculture Production Commissioner & Mission Director, ELEMENT, and a six-member team from the World Bank led by Task Team Leader, Pyush Dogra, attended the Mission.A medical camp was organised by Lion’s Club Akuluto, Zunheboto at Akuluto sub-division on May 27 with a medical team from Down Town Hospital Ltd Guwahati. The team was led by Dr Kiran Singh(surgery), Dr Mahesh Madhukar (Gyane & Paed), Dr Seumya Rajan(ENT), and Dr Sarnth Ashokbhai (medicine), accompanied by Nikhilesh Sarma (BDM) and staff nurses. The camp attended 212 patients from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Public Health Engineering Department, Phek Division organised World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025 at Government Residential Girl Hostel under the theme “Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld” sponsored by Sanitation and WSSO, Nagaland. Abigail Ritse, Sanitation and Hygiene Consultant, PHED Phek Division presented on Menstrual Waste Management. She said that menstruation is a natural and normal process for women and it is time to break the myths, silence and stigma surrounding it. Hands on demonstration on the usage of sanitary pads was delivered by Kutulu vero, District Coordinator, PHED, Phek Division, followed by pledge taking on Menstrual hygiene. The department distributed biodegradable sanitary pads and menstrual hygiene management pamphlets to all the participants.North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) concluded its weeklong STAR (Students Training and Academic Readiness) programme for Bachelor of Social Work students on May 29. Participants were introduced to the NEISSR’s mission, vision and core values, methods of social work, importance of fieldwork practicum, leadership skills, goal setting, peer mediation, community engagement and social analysis. On the last day, an interactive and practical session on social analysis led by Vizosü Kikhi, Assistant Professor NEISSR. The resource persons were Dr Fr CP Anto, Principal NEISSR, Rev GL Khing, Vice Principal and Administrator, Saziini Chache, Researcher Peace Channel and Assistant Professors viz Dr Toli H Kiba, Dr Abel Ariina, Dr Lily Sangpui, Vizosü Kikhi, Nlumpeule and Barnic.District Hospital Longleng conducted the re-orientation on LaQshya (Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative) at the Medical Superintendent’s office on May 28. Dr Longri, Medical Officer from UNICEF and DH&FW Kohima, provided in-depth orientation on the key components of Kayakalp, Maternity OT Assessment Checklist, and various quality assurance tools. Dr Longri explained the structure and importance of the Assessment Checklist and encouraged staff to become proficient in its application. He also highlighted the role of Quality Management and the use of the Likert Scale for analyzing client satisfaction. The orientation was attended by Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, Anaesthetists, Paediatricians, Labour and OT Technicians, Staff Nurses, Nursing Superintendent and District Program Manager for Quality Assurance.
