Nagaland Police details posts allocation for Dimapur, Chümoukedima & Niuland

Last date extended till November 22

Dimapur, November 8 (MExN): The Nagaland Police has issued a tribe-wise allocation of 144 posts for Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland districts as part of its ongoing recruitment process.

The announcement followed a government decision to allocate the posts based on the 2011 Census data of Indigenous Naga Tribes in the three districts, as outlined in an addendum to the original advertisement for the recruitment of 1,176 Constable (General Duty) posts, dated September 30.

Previously, while most posts were district-based according to tribal ratios and population, the 144 posts in three districts were designated as “Open competition for all Naga Indigenous Tribes of Nagaland.”

According to the allocation chart, the Sumi community has the highest allotment with 57 posts (50 male, 7 female), followed by Ao with 29 (25 male, 4 female) and Angami with 18 (16 male, 2 female).  Smaller allocations include Chang (1), Pochury (1), and Khiamniungan (2), among others (see table).

In total, out of 144 posts, 127 are reserved for male candidates and 17 for female candidates, as per the detailed table uploaded on the Nagaland Police Recruitment Portal.

In view of these changes, the police department has extended the last date for online submission by 15 days, from the earlier deadline of 3:00 PM on November 7 to November 22.

Further, applicants for Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland must be residents of the respective districts and possess all supporting documents, the Addendum said.

These included Indigenous Inhabitant and Scheduled Tribe Certificates issued by the concerned District Authority, not below the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner, it added.

Following recent modifications, candidates who previously applied under the ‘open category’ from these districts can now change their applied district through the Recruitment Portal starting November 8.

Candidates may log in using their registered mobile number to make the changes, after which a revised admit card will be generated.

Over 32,000 applicants till November 8

Meanwhile, as of 5 PM on November 8, a total of 32,286 candidates had registered for the ongoing Nagaland Police recruitment drive.

Of these, 30,023 candidates had paid the examination fee and the police have urged all intending candidates to complete the payment before the deadline to avoid disqualification.

Advertised by the Office of the Director General of Police, the application for recruitment process is being conducted exclusively through the official recruitment portal: https://nagalandpolicerecruitment.in.

Eligibility criteria include ages 18–38 years, with educational qualifications ranging from Class 6 for Backward Tribes to Class 8 for other Indigenous Naga Tribes.

Applicants needing assistance may contact the Nagaland Police Recruitment Cell at PHQ on 0370-2240026/2240027 during office hours.
