Itanagar, April 26 (MExN): Limasunep Imchen, a professional mixed martial artist representing The Combat Academy Nagaland and Warriors Cove MMA, advanced to the semi-finals of the Aturto Mixed Martial Arts event held in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, on April 25.
Imchen is among the contenders in the eight-man Flyweight Grand Prix Tournament, featuring athletes from across the country, including Mizoram, Meghalaya, Mumbai, Assam, Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh, competing for the inaugural Aturto Flyweight Championship belt and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
In the quarterfinal bout, Imchen faced local fighter Nisham Waii of Arunachal Pradesh and secured a dominant first-round victory via technical knockout (TKO).
With the win, he progressed to the semi-finals, where he is scheduled to face Lia Nun of Mizoram. The semi-final bouts are slated to be held in August later this year. Aturto, based in Arunachal Pradesh, has emerged as one of the leading mixed martial arts promotions in India and is regarded as a prominent platform for MMA in the Northeast region.
