NAPTC 50th Attestation Parade

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 5 (MExN): A total of 440 recruits passed out from the Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre (NAPTC), Chumukedima on Saturday, November 5. The newly commissioned recruits (4 havildars and 436 constables) comprised of the 50th batch of NAP/IR to pass out from the NAPTC.
The Director General of Police, K. Kire inspected the customary ceremonial attestation parade, while gracing the occasion as the chief guest. The DGP, in his address said that through the oath that they have taken, they have become members of the ‘family of Nagaland Police’ and at the same time ‘members of the world police’. The pledge, he said, must be the guiding principle throughout their service life, so that they ever live up to the call of duty.
“From today you’ve become police officers… what you’ve learned during training should be always kept in mind.” Also, the power and authority that comes along with the uniform must not be misused, which is solely for maintaining peace in the society, he said. With it comes not only authority but also the respect from the public, he added, while stating that not everyone can wear it. Only policemen can wear it, for they have been selected, trained and vested with the right to do so.
Cautioning that the department will not tolerate any breach of discipline by any of its personnel, he said that a policeman misusing his authority would only tarnish the image of the police force as a whole.  “Wherever we are, we must respect our uniform… if we don’t others won’t,” he stated thus, while reminding that uniformed personnel must behave and carry out their given duties in such a way that masses admire them. Stating further, he said that whatever a policeman does, whether good or bad, ultimately affects the force; in the state’s case, the Nagaland Police.
