DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 21 (MExN): Heavy downpour did not stop the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), youth department 27th annual session cum triennial conference from making a grand opening this evening at the Mission Centre, Akuvuto in Dimapur. Hosted by the Western Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (WSBAK), the conference got off to a dazzling presentation from Thahekhu Baptist Church, youth department.
Reverend Jeffery Alan Dieselberg (Jeff) delivered the opening message to a packed house of nearly 1000 delegates from 20 associations and 2 associated members of the NBCC.
Reverend Jeff described the living word in three parts- to be lived, to be spoken and to be eaten. First, he said that to have faith in the living word means to ‘live-in’ with Jesus. He said: “Jesus wants us to move in with him.” Reverend Jeff said that faith is more than just a handshake on Sunday morning and it mean moving into Jesus’s neighborhood.
He said that ‘the word’ is powerful and gives one the authority to give life and healing to others. He exemplified the word spoken by Jesus that gave life and healing in the Bible. He also emphasized on the written word. He said the word is not just history, an instruction or something to be read but that which must be meditated upon.
He further illustrated that the bible must be read slowly: as if to relish it like properly cooked food. “I want you to read the bible in the manner that I call slow cook,” he said. He said that it is faith in the word is taking time to read the word of God. He further exalted the youths by reminding them that that they are the next chapter in God’s book.
