NECDC U19 Cup: Mizoram maintain winning run; Manipur thrash Meghalaya

Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): Mizoram continued their winning momentum while Manipur registered a dominant victory in the 4th NECDC Inter State Friendship Cup Men’s U19 2026 played at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Chumoukedima and Sovima Cricket Ground, Dimapur on April 7.

In the first match, Mizoram defeated Arunachal Pradesh by 6 wickets, successfully chasing a target of 133 in 24.2 overs. Arunachal Pradesh, after electing to bat, were all out for 132 in 38.4 overs. Nabam Nathan scored 43 off 80 balls and Nabam Reekam added 38 off 62.

Mizoram’s bowling was led by H. Lalrinfela, who claimed 5 wickets for 23 runs in 7.4 overs, while VL Chhuankima took 3 for 24.

In reply, Mizoram reached 133 for 4 with Johan Lalhriatpuia scoring 39 off 41 balls and Lalramluahpuia Zote remaining unbeaten on 28 off 36. Bamang Magum took 2 wickets for 16 runs for Arunachal Pradesh. Lalrinfela was named Player of the Match.

In the second match, Manipur defeated Meghalaya by 144 runs. Batting first, Manipur posted 222 for 6 in 26 overs. Max Warokpam Meitei scored 76 off 53 balls while Naeesh contributed 53 off 45.
For Meghalaya, Benedict J Makdoh took 2 wickets for 41 runs.

Chasing 223, Meghalaya were bowled out for 78 in 22.3 overs. Angkit Tamang top-scored with 26 off 47 balls.

Manipur’s bowling attack was led by Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba and Saikhom Kaiku Meetei, who took 4 wickets each, conceding 11 and 7 runs respectively. Nganba was named Player of the Match.

Both matches reflected the competitive nature of the tournament, with Mizoram maintaining consistency and Manipur delivering a comprehensive all-round performance.
