Demonstration on use of organic inputs

Dimapur, April 5 (MExN): Looking at the consumption and production rate of onion and vegetables in Nagaland, the Director of ICAR-Directorate of Onion & Garlic Research, Rajgurunagar, Pune, Maharashtra, Director, IIVR, Varanasi and Dr Moakala Changkiri, Project Incharge, NEH Component-Onion & Garlic & Vegetable Crops, Nagaland Centre felt the need to popularise the cultivation among tribal farmers of Nagaland.
A press release received here stated that keeping this in mind and with the objective of promoting onion and vegetable cultivation among farmers, NEH Component-Onion & Garlic in collaboration with NEH Component of Vegetable Crops, SASRD, Nagaland University, good quality vegetable and onion seeds were distributed to beneficiaries from Molvom village under Chümoukedima district on April 5.
Along with the seeds, agri inputs that are required by the farmers during cultivation like agroshadenets, combo 2 in 1 sprayers, water pumps, vermin beds, garden spade, long rake 12 teeth, tricoderma, organic NPK and other inputs were also distributed.
The demonstration and distribution programme was graced by Dr Moakala Changkiri, Scientist, AICRP (VC) & Project Incharge, NEH Component-Onion & Garlic & Vegetable Crops, SASRD, NU.
The beneficiaries were highlighted and demonstrated on the production technology and uses of organic inputs in vegetable cultivation.
‘This programme was held specifically with the aim to promote onion and vegetable cultivation which automatically will mend the requirement of the local people as well as it would be a source of income generation,’ it stated.
