Officials along with the participants of the Naga Wrestling Meet 2026 at Sechüma village, Kohima on January 21.
Kohima, January 21 (MExN): The Western Angami ‘D’ Youth Organisation (WADYO) on January 21 organised a Naga Wrestling Meet 2026 at Sechüma village, recording strong participation and keen competition in both Senior and Junior categories.In the Senior category, Neikerhezo Zhünyü of Sechü Zubza emerged champion, while Kedizelhou Zhünyü, also from Sechü Zubza, secured the second position. Thepfüsahu Kuotsu of Mengujuma finished third, followed by Neikhotso Nagi of Sechü Zubza in fourth place.
The Junior (Under-15) category witnessed a dominant performance by wrestlers from Sechü Zubza. Metseilhoukho Zhünyü clinched the title, while Thejasezo Sechü and Vikuosa Nipu secured the second and third positions, respectively. Kevisekho Nagi, also from Sechü Zubza, finished fourth.
The meet was organised as part of WADYO’s initiative to promote traditional Naga wrestling and encourage youth participation in indigenous sports. Officials, referees and members of the organising committee ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
