The Kohima Darts Academy (KDA), supported by Indian Darts Council (IDC) was formally inaugurated at Naga Hospital Colony, Kohima on February 23, marking a significant step towards promoting the sport of darts in Nagaland.
Inaugurating the KDA as the special guest, MLA Dr Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhütso, stressed on the need to maintain constant practice to excel in the field of darts.
He wished the Academy all success in bringing up the youngsters and hoped that it will produce national and international players in the near future.
Dr Ato was also hopeful that this Academy will not just improve one’s skills but would also foster friendship and unity among the youngsters, and also build confidence and social interaction.
KDA aim to promote the sport of darts and nurture young talents.
The Academy will enrol boys and girls for 8 years and above in darts activities.
It will hold coaching sessions and attend competitions locally and nationally representing the Kohima city and the state. The Academy is equipped with six free-standing dartboard setups, one of the best training facilities for the sport in the region.
Regular coaching sessions will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
All coaches and volunteers associated with the Academy are experienced players, dedicated to mentoring members.
Performance assessments will be conducted periodically to monitor progress and design improvement strategies.
The Academy also encourages participation in local, state, and national-level tournaments, providing players with competitive exposure.

With its establishment, the Kohima Darts Academy aims to strengthen the darts culture in Nagaland and create a professional pathway for emerging talents in the sport.
KDA proprietor Vikehelie Suohu thanked Akielie who introduced him into this sport. He also thanked Nagaland Darts Association, Fun Tree Crew, Team One Nagaland, Dynamic School of Darts for their unwavering support over the years.
He also offered sincere gratitude to Kezha Semou, Kevichuzo Zumvu, Kikru Zatsu and Ajay and well wishers for their support.
Suohu thanked Indian Darts Council for their support and guidance under the leadership of Devesh Srivastava.
“Today is not just about opening a darts academy but it is about launching a dream. For years, I have dreamed of this day-the day, this Darts Academy becomes a reality,” he said.
To all the darters, he said “This is your home. Train hard, play fair, respect the game and never stop believing in your potential.”

The launching programme was attended by representatives from Nagaland Darts Association, Fun Tree Crew, Team One Nagaland, Dynamic School of Darts, Zumvu Printex, and Dartskart, among others.
The programme was chaired by Theja Kire while Seyievituo Suohu, Assistant Pastor, Flames of Fire Baptist Church invoked God’s blessings.
Earlier, dedicatory prayer for this Academy was done on February 22 by Rev. Kehoulelie Zatsu, pastor CRC Naga Hospital Colony.
